What data The Thailand Compass collects, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights.
Who is responsible

What we collect and why
- Newsletter and free guides: your email address, the language of the site and the page you subscribed from. Purpose: send you the requested document and our travel emails. Legal basis: your consent.
- Project or contact form: the information you enter yourself. Purpose: answer you. Legal basis: your request.
- Audience and link measurement: a first-party identifier stored on your device, the pages viewed, the buttons clicked and the booking partner you were sent to. Purpose: understand which pages are useful and how the site is financed. Legal basis: your consent, requested before measurement starts.
- Free listing request: the business and contact details you enter in the listing form. Purpose: verify and publish the listing you asked for, and write to you about it.
- Purchases: if you buy a guide, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see your card details.
How long we keep it
Listing requests: for as long as the listing is online, then twelve months; a request that is never published is deleted after twelve months.
Measurement data: 25 months maximum. Anti-abuse: a counter of requests keyed by an anonymous fingerprint (no IP address or email address in clear), deleted after 24 hours. Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not write to you again. Messages: 3 years. Purchase records: as required by accounting law.
Who processes data on our behalf
Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, European region), Resend (transactional email), Stripe (payments). Our booking partners receive only the fact that a visit came from us, through the link you click. We never sell your data.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, portability or restriction of your data, and object to its processing, by writing to hello@thethailandcompass.com. An unsubscribe link is present in every email. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a technical cookie required for the site to work, and, only after your consent, a first-party measurement identifier. We set no advertising cookie and load no third-party tracker on our pages.
Content loaded from partners
Some pages offer an interactive accommodation map provided by our booking partner. It is never loaded automatically: nothing is requested from that partner until you click to open it. Once you do, the map runs inside its own frame and that partner applies its own tools, which may include measurement and error-reporting services of its choosing. If you prefer to avoid this, simply do not open the map: every page works without it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
